Energy Levels and Complicated Optimizations
I really need this winter to finally end. I need to get out and get some exercise, sunlight, and human contact (even if just in passing).

This winter has been rough. Between the usual lack of meaning, the constant feeling of the walls closing in as the last vestiges of the culture I used to tolerate are pushed from our world, and the nonsensical global political and economic problems, there isn't much to feel even "ok" about. Some warm weather would at least give me some more coping options.

Beyond that, work on the next OP release is going slowly. Most of the core underlying requirements were pretty straight-forward (client-directed fetch distance and poling for server status) but now I am trying to build an optimization for the client-side speculative lighting update which is very complicated. Much of the issue is that there are so many specialized pieces of data to return and then integrate into the most complex code in the system (the SpeculativeProjection). I have some ideas, but rolling them out is so much finicky work with a lot of moving pieces. I can't shake the feeling that I am looking at this the wrong way and I am just limited by my own intelligence.

At least there have been a few days warm enough to have that "spring in the air" sort of smell, so it is just a matter of time.
