This week, I finished up the Foundation trilogy and my watch-through of Inuyasha.
Foundation was good but I understand why he eventually went back to the series since it just sort of "ends". Now, given how the story worked, I don't really think that is a big problem since it was more about the ideas at play as opposed to any specific resolution. Similarly, while I could criticize how much of it was "too perfect" in how the various crises were resolved, that was kind of the point and the ways in which they were resolved were at least interesting.
It also does a good job of demonstrating how these kinds of power structures work, including how they eventually become corrupted or just fail. When you step back and look at real-world history, you can see the patterns which probably inspired this.
As for Inuyasha, I thought it was half-decent although I did find it too long and definitely of a structure which would probably be more interesting to a teenager. Still, not bad, by any means, and was well-produced and had a very satisfying ending (the entire "Final Act" season was good in how it wrapped things up). It is worth seeing, although the length of it might be a bit much (aside from some slowly evolving character development, most of the main series could probably be skipped if you needed to speed-run it - not a bad watch if you have the time, though).
So, this means I am on to my next bits of media in my backlog. In terms of books, I picked up Cloud Atlas, today (I was hoping either that or A Canticle for Leibowitz). Hopefully I like that as much as I loved the movie (as it is my top stand-alone movie - End of Evangelion requires watching the series first). In terms of TV series, I am on to Ergo Proxy. I have heard it is good and often recommended along-side things like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Serial Experiments Lain, both of which I really liked.
Other than that, I really don't know why the IPFS synchronization has been so terrible, lately. I wonder if it is the distributed index straining under losing a bunch of nodes, recently. I still think that this thing is over-designed and I need to spend the time to run my Bloom filter experiment idea to see if something so simple would actually be effective at the scales which interest me.
OP work is slowly progressing through a big UI design refactoring. As with all refactoring, there is a lot of second-guessing and wondering if I am taking 1 step back to move 2 steps forward or 1 step back to move 1 step in another direction.
Not much happening otherwise, unfortunately,
