Yeah, most of the push to make things "safe" is usually just a push to create a police state or some other dystopian control system.

They say that the ends justify the means but, not only do I think that is a dangerous way of thinking, I also don't think they will even achieve their claimed ends.

Hence why I am always wary of these ideas. Self-directed and self-owned safety (like knowledge, freedom, and empowerment) are far more stable, more versatile, and harder to corrupt.
