I walk through the new demo8 release, showing the orcs and cows in the world.
Their AI is still very basic and the spawning rules need to be balanced but this at least demonstrates the functionality. The cows are spawned when new cuboids are generated in the world and can reproduce when fed wheat in pairs while the orcs spawn dynamically if the world isn't too crowded.
Work can now begin for demo9, which will focus on things like doors which can open/close, some basic automation like hoppers, etc, and hopefully something analogous to simple redstone. Details are still to be sorted out, though, since the plan is to keep this simple, for the OctoberPlains project.
Note that the demo9 release is the last one in the demo series before switching over to pre-releases, which will focus on fleshing out mechanics, balancing them, and optimizing the system.
