I just wanted to announce that v1.0-pre6 of OctoberPlains has been released on GitHub (link in the context).
This release is mostly just to add some in-game audio but also make some small bug fixes and client-side performance improvements.
This is the last of the pre-releases and I will be creating the first release candidate once making some small changes which have been piling up. This means that development is wrapping up on this client and OctoberPeaks (OctoberProject "phase 2") will be getting started soon.
Most of the next changes planned before the pre-release are related to balance and early-game content (some wooden tools and more ore spawns - without caves, finding ore is incredibly difficult). The only thing which could be considered a new "mechanic" is the planned addition of a bed to set spawn and reset the time of day (since not having that is very annoying for actual game play).
Once that first RC build is produced, any other releases after that will only be for bug fixes or serious performance concerns. This means that work on OctoberPeaks can start in a couple of weeks (it will probably start after RC0 but before final 1.0).
Let me know what you think,
Jeff.
