It actually managed to cause flooding on the ground floor of my building and knocked out power to the area for about 2.5 hours (so I now know my UPS can power my E-Mail server and modem for just under an hour). When I went down during the flooding, it looked like a small river rushing out of the park and down the street.
Afterwards, while waiting for the power to come back, I went for a walk in the park and the centre of it was now a shin-deep lake. People seemed to be wading into the area with their dogs or kids were trying to ride bikes through it. By the end of the day, that lake didn't seem to have shrunk much.
Luckily the power outage wasn't that long. In the entire time I have lived here (which is over 11 years), I have only had power outages a few times and I think that this might be the second one which wasn't planned long in advance for some maintenance work.
Looking at the news, I was reminded of that big storm about a decade ago where the news even showed things like submerged GO trains. I suspect that this storm was about that intensity, just maybe not for as long.
I hear that there is some more in the forecast so hopefully the worst is over. While a storm is nice, so is electricity and not being flooded in your home or vehicle,
