Happy Star Wars Day
Yesterday was a freakin' terrible day.

I was so upset and other than the fact that my 7 month old great nephew was just baptized into Catholicism I couldn't figure out why.

Yes, this is big, why indoctrinate innocent babies, especially in this modern age?

I much rather them choose their own religion or lack thereof at 18 or whatever.

I was going to attend Catholic church in Italian once I move to Caboto Terrace but I have been completely turned off Catholicism recently, I went to a couple of Catholic Bible Study groups from the church I grew up in and the guy running them WOULD NOT STOP TALKING POLITICS, not just Canadian politics but American on top of it all, so I blocked him from contacting me. That was a couple weeks ago when I completely turned to Unitarian Universalism.

In Canada, Unitarian Universalism has 8 principles:

1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

2. Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations;

3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process
within our congregations and in society at large;

6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

8. Individual and communal action that accountably dismantles racism and systemic barriers to full inclusion in ourselves and our institutions

What does my mom think of this? She's all for it. The gathering is based on music, discussion on current events and creative readings. After every gathering there is a potluck too. I haven't gone to the potluck yet but maybe I will one day. Yesterday they spoke of Toronto's Indigenous History. Next week the topic of discussion is Apocalyptic Fiction. My mom likes that the goal of this church is world peace and said that that fits me since that's all I wanted since the 2nd grade and I am a writer. Many writers are or were Unitarian Universalist.

My dad is gone, yes, but I think he would like this for me as well. I think I found my people.

A friend of mine is doing a walk and roll for Muscular Dystrophy and it reminded me, that as of two days ago it's been 15 years since one of my mentors died of that so I gave him a $10 donation in Sandor's memory and I already feel much better.
