Work on OctoberPeaks is going pretty well. There are still some problems related to render order with transparent blocks and the model textures aren't right but it is something.
This involved needing to learn the basics of Blender, which wasn't too bad. It is a very complicated piece of software but it all does seem to "make sense". Then, I had to build the Wavefront importer for the models, but that was actually very simple.
Aside from my terrible skills as both a 2D and 3D artist, the main problem I am having here is that the model was exported in a way which was either missing parts (created with a mirror transform) or had bizarre texture z-fighting (the version shown here). This seems to have something to do with "apply transforms" which makes sense since I don't know exactly what that includes. More investigation will be needed.
Other than that, no huge plans for today but have some ideas for later, perhaps.
In terms of requirements for the next release, I need do make a model for the orc (above is a cow, since that might not be obvious), make the remaining block face textures, apply the damage texture when breaking a block, and move the cuboid baking into the background (although it is somehow fast enough on the main thread, for now, so this might be deferred).
So far, going in a good direction and starting to "feel" like something more real,
