Hardware and Slow Motivation
I finally got fed up with the keyboard on my laptop (gaming and development machine) crapping out randomly (half the keys stop working from time to time) so I decided to go get a replacement. So, now I have a basic external gaming keyboard (I wanted something with a backlight and this is the easiest way to find that) which seems to work but it has lots of multicoloured lights blinking around it and no Linux control software for it so that is a little annoying.

While I was out, I decided to get more RAM for this system since the 12 GiB it has sometimes becomes a limiting factor in some games (in some cases because the game is huge - like Cities Skylines - but usually just because of technical incompetence). Of course, the first DIMM didn't work so I had to try another. Long story short, I am now up to 24 GiB, which is well beyond what I need).

Other than that, I am working on this first pre-release of OctoberPeaks and the work is going slowly. This UI work is so tedious and largely uninteresting so it is tiring just thinking about it. The fact that it is mostly just re-writing logic I already wrote for OctoberPlains makes the work smaller but even less interesting. However, it is moving along.

The first pre-release is mostly just going to be to enable feature-equivalence with the UI from OctoberPlains. This will make it possible to use the game more completely, although it won't look like anything (no textures on surfaces, no lighting, etc). Each pre-release from there on will basically just improve what is established as the initial baseline (textures, lighting, models, improved water, proper directional movement, etc).

I also noticed how rough my website is looking, since I just dump the export from Cacophony without any pagination, so I should really get around to improving that, before too long. It is another case of "not too difficulty but horribly uninteresting" so motivation is tricky.

The weather has been oddly warm, of late, so I have been out for walks before it gets cold. That was a nice break, at least.
