I heard that a game called "The Long Dark" is good in the genre of open-world survival, which I am quite into, these days. Looking it up, it has a Linux version of Steam so I decided to watch a video from a content creator I like (Pr1vate Lime) playing through it.
In the first video, he was stumbling through a blizzard and happened upon a small cabin for shelter. Inside, he is looking around for food and fuel and finds a bag of ketchup chips. As soon as I saw this I thought, "Is this game Canadian?" For whatever reason, ketchup chips are a Canadian thing. I have no idea why they are only in Canada, since they are great, and people realize they aren't weird once you point out that potatoes are used to make both fries and chips and everyone puts ketchup on fries.
Anyway, yeah, apparently it was written by a guy in BC who has a strong sense of Canadian identity.
I will have to see if the game looks like something I could get into, but seems promising. Plus, everyone knows I like buying local.
In other news, October Project AI work is coming along, but slowly. I just haven't felt very inspired for the past few weeks. At least it is to the point where cows will wander somewhat randomly but if you get too close to them with wheat in your hand will start chasing you down.
