It is strange to hear that there is a blood shortage, this summer, given that there is no real reason for that to happen.
I wonder if this is another part of the "20-somethings currently do absolutely nothing" problem. They don't drink, they don't smoke, they don't have sex, they don't go outside, they don't work, they don't socialize, they don't... do anything we used to consider "living".
It is crazy to consider because I didn't donate in my 20s just because my life was so busy that the questionnaire became a little... tricky... to pass. You probably don't want to answer a question on there with "does it count if I was drunk?". Nowadays, what is their excuse?
As for me, my last donation was nearly 4 weeks ago so I am not quite half-way through my current cool-down. However, as long as my life remains boring (let's be honest, the modern age isn't going to get interesting any time soon) and they have openings, I will doing my 3rd donation of the year early in September.
So, I don't know what the issue is but I am reaching that age where I am supposed to complain about "kids today" every so often.
The reminder is valid, though: If you can give blood, you should probably look into doing so. If nothing else, it is an interesting way to spend 15 minutes,
