Aww, I hope that the kitty is happy and doing well!

It is bizarre how so much of modern culture has abandoned everything except for simple political slogans. I wonder why that happened so suddenly (this problem didn't exist 20 years ago but is huge, now).

I wonder if it is information overload causing a lack of nuance and understanding. I wonder if it is just virtue signalling to "say the popular thing". I wonder if it is just the tribalism of wanting to be on a "side" and "against" some kind of "other".

I wonder if it is related to that issue others have raised about art appreciation: The entire conversation is about trying to "uncover the meaning" and what something is trying to say (usually about some contemporary political division, for some reason) instead of appreciating it on any other level. Of course, this isn't a new problem, so it can't be purely that, as people have been complaining about this for decades.

I miss the days when something could be discussed or built without it being poisoned by unrelated division.
