I think it is kind of embarrassing that I find myself often watching those "reaction" videos, online, where people watch a movie or TV show and talk about it. I think that the main itch I expect this to scratch is some kind of connection. I feel as though I want to share things I like with people and be able to talk about them together. However, humans are so far apart, these days, and I either don't have enough time to share such indirect moments with those I do see, or we don't share those interests.

Of course, this doesn't actually work. Not only is the connection one-way, but I find few people understand things in interesting ways (which I suspect is largely because of the performative nonsense of our modern culture - I don't care that some statement or interaction "breaks the rules" - I want to know what you think it means to the characters, the themes, the story, or maybe just the dynamic of the scene). Hence, I am left lacking. It is a thirst that goes unquenched yet still I can't help but desperately reach for another bottle, knowing it will be just as empty.

I miss the days of meeting up with more people, more often, not to mention the wealth of meaning and interaction which was the workplace (only in-person counts).

Sure, maybe those things are lost to us but I won't apologize for waxing romantic about such nostalgia. Sure, it doesn't quench its corresponding thirst, but I can still smile in memory of the drinks we shared,
