Been getting a few good days of lots of work, lately, combined with generally moving forward on OctoberProject. In fact, working toward this OctoberPlains release candidate build has been feeling more fast-paced than I expected. Lots of play testing is helping me notice subtle bugs or other balance issues I hadn't noticed before. Aside from that, most of the work has just been smaller odds-and-ends which have been quick to sort out.
On a personal level, however, I have this odd feeling that "nothing" is going on. Sure, I go out to a club every 1-2 weeks and see people, but there is even some lustre lacking there. I just feel as though I am not really doing anything and not really all that engaged with anything. It is a strange feeling.
Heard some good news that Frieren will be getting an official DVD release (in December... for only the first half, for some reason) so I can pick that up instead of my tedious plan of how else to legitimately acquire it (I am not a fan of our "you will own nothing" digital feudalism). They also recently announced that a season 2 is in the works. From what I have seen in the story, this should be great (even if one of the secondary characters needs to be recast due to the recent death of a voice actor).
For fun, I have been playing a lot of Core Keeper since their 1.0 release was completed, recently. Definitely a good game but can get a little grindy with the exhaustive exploration in the late-game.
On the technical side, my laptop's keyboard is starting to crap out and I am not sure if I will be able to fix it just by cracking it open to clean and re-attach the connector (that is the limit to how much I want to disassemble this since laptops are often built around their keyboards, given how you need to access them). Good news in a related area is that HardKernel finally has a new machine well beyond my N2 so I will pick that up once they have a 24.04 build for it and then migrate my other servers (E-Mail, Jabber, Web, IPFS, etc) over to the N2 as my unified server. This reminds me: I need to bite the bullet and run the 24.04 update on my laptop before too long. Updates always worry me since they tend to break things (although the last 2 didn't - Ubuntu seems pretty good about that, these days - at least on x86).
That's all for now,
