After some play-testing (thanks to Daniela for testing out the multi-player with me), the rc0 build has been declared v1.0 and released as the first complete release.
This means that OctoberPeaks now has feature-parity with OctoberPlains. It still doesn't feel perfectly balanced or all that "fun", but the basis is here for fleshing out other mechanics and adding content.
Looking to the future, the original plan was to begin work on OctoberPeaks 2.0 now. The plan for 2.0 development is that it would break compatibility with 1.x since it is quite different and I don't believe that there are any long-play 1.x worlds in use.
However, in order to de-risk this massive transition, I have identified some key changes planned for 2.0 which will actually be released in a 1.1 build (including 1.3 OctoberProject server). This means that 1.x development will continue for a little while before the larger 2.0 break is required. Arguably, the split probably puts most of the work in the 1.1 time-frame, but the highest-risk and deeper changes in the 2.0 time-frame.
So, take a look at 1.0 and keep your eyes open for the 1.1 plan and pre-releases.
Thanks,
Jeff.
