I went for a short walk just around the park and was surprised by the police presence. Apparently, that investor summit the Prime Minister is hosting starts at the AGO, this evening. The police are there for general security and due to concerns around protests.

Maybe I am just worn out due to living in downtown but I don't really understand what most protests are even about. They seem to happen constantly and the voices on megaphones sound oddly similar, so I am not even sure if they have any specific point or if this is just what some people do with their lives.

In this case, I don't really understand the anger people would have toward investment in Canada. Don't people like jobs, economic stability, and sovereignty (ultimately)?

I would understand if they had a more specific grievance (like with the industries being developed or the treaties that they may require), but this seems oddly like that conversation in that old movie ("The Wild One"): "Hey, Johnny, what are you rebelling against?" "What've you got?"

In any case, I am interested in this investor summit idea and I am interested in seeing where it goes and what comes of it.

At least when I was down there, it all seemed pretty quiet. I hope that nothing bizarre happens (like that last time, before I moved here),
