I am dumped into the room from a small hatch in a ceiling with snaps shut before I even hit the ground.
A deep monotone voice plays over the loudspeakers dotted around the ceiling: "Your existence is offensive and wrong. Do not trouble others with your hideous nature. They will recoil in disgust and terror!"
Finally having a chance to sit up, I look around through the thin mist to see that I am in a room whose walls are out of view but the ceiling is so low as to be just above my head. Some fluorescent ceiling lights flicker throughout the room while some are steady and others are dim. There are bars throughout the room, seemingly mostly transparent but frosted. Finally standing, I feel the bitter cold and realize that the bars are ice and they are arranged like prison cells, but there are not enough bars to block all pathways so I walk a small ways, weaving between the bars.
After several minutes of trying to walk in one direction, I seem no closer to any kind of exit and the cold is starting to bite with more determination. I reach forward to press one of the bars to see how strong they are and, after a moment of feeling the ice warm to my touch, I suddenly feel a deeper chill in my body. Wrapping my arms tightly around my chest, I shiver while hoping that standing still will allow a warmer pocket of air to form around me. "I must stay still and not touch the bars", I say under my breath.
After several minutes of the cold creeping into my body, I hear the short clang of a hatch closing in the distance and that same recording play over the loudspeakers throughout the place. By this point, the cold has permeated my body and all I can do is squeeze my eyes shut with my arms wrapped tightly around my chest, wishing there were something warm wrapped around me.
I hear a rustling near me and feel a brief sensation as though a warm hand touched my arm, only to immediately grow cold and pull away. This must be the hypothermia pawing at my nerves and mind. There is nowhere to go and I only grow colder. If only I weren't alone in this terrible place, maybe we could find a way to survive and a way to escape...
