Something which has bothered me, the last little while, is that I almost never do any sort of creative writing, anymore. Be it drunken inspiration or just hashing out some thoughts, I so rarely sit down to write.

There are a few reasons for this: (1) My main personal Cacophony channel is based on my laptop, which isn't always on when I am inspired, (2) I wonder about length in the main text content of a post (I have wondered about designing a long-form Markdown attachment, or something), and (3) I have had a sort of "what's the point" feeling about a lot of such endeavours, these days.

So, the easy way to fix (1) is just to create another channel on my other machine. No reason not to as these are cheap and I replicate everything there, anyway (since it is the one which is always online).

Fixing (2) would be more complicated (although I have wanted to get back into the codebase to build a more robust on-disk storage system, as the current one turned out not to work well on Windows systems). I am not sure if it is required, and defining a new attachment style would be non-trivial, but the system is designed to handle such things. Doing this properly, of course, would require a great deal of UI work, unfortunately (considering edits, etc).

Addressing (3) is just something I need to get over. Not everything is written to be read and spur broad commentary, but sometimes just written to be written, alone.

Anyway, I will probably go ahead with at least the new channel since there is no harm in doing that.
