I found a new way to think about that lighting optimization problem which actually allowed me to simplify some of the SpeculativeProjection. I got that merged yesterday and it gave a 30% savings to the micro-bench and seemed to remove the subjective "chugging" feeling when placing a light source in the game.

What is more is that I should be able to push that further such that there should be an additional small savings but a pretty big additional simplification to SpeculativeProjection. It is nice to see that class being teased apart and more of the cases in its complicated logic being removed. It is, after all, probably the most complicated part of the system.

However, my energy level is still low. The weather this week is at least showing more signs of spring so I should be able to get out for more exercise soon.
