Yeah, it is frustrating how the modern world has made talking about "groups of people" like that so trendy, along with other vague armchair political statements.

At least I rarely see it in person (as I don't see people, in person) but I guess I do have 1 couple connected to my family which has become pretty far-left, so they make nonsensical and angry statements akin to that sometimes (and do not take lack of agreement lightly). Luckily, most of the people I do know are pretty moderate and usually interested in real things, so this is rarely much of an issue. The internet is where crazy seems to live and that is most of life, now.

The difficult thing is to find ways to deflect and move a conversation back in a more interesting direction, not just becoming part of the pointless melee.
