Interesting that you are finding value in some kind of creative outlet. I think that this is probably something which generally makes people feel better since it is creation and/or expression, both being expressions of agency, in a way which doesn't require external permission or coordination. It is merely humanity for its own sake.
I think that one of the reason why there is so much general anger and despair these days is that the search for meaning is being met with failure by the individual and indifference by our broader culture. We yearn for some kind of meaning, can't find it, are told we shouldn't care, and then feel empty as a result.
The current anti-social world, created by social media and general internet-enabled isolation, is definitely not helping. Not only does human contact make us feel better, it also creates the basis for how we can contextualize our search for meaning (or so I suspect).
It reminds me of what the character William Edgars said in the Babylon 5 episode called "The Exercise of Vital Powers" when talking about the ancient Greek definition of happiness: "Happiness, they said, was the exercise of vital powers along lines of excellence in a life affording them scope."
Seems about right.
